Aril grew up in the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden, where his passion for filmmaking sparked at an early age. His path became clear after seeing the first Highlander movie, which ignited his dream of a career behind the camera. Since then, he has shot a wide range of films across genres and styles.

Aril holds a BFA in Cinematography from the University College of Film in Stockholm (1999-2001) and has gained extensive hands-on experience by working his way up through a variety of crew roles, including gaffer, grip and 1st AC. This journey has given him a solid foundation in both the technical and creative facets of cinematography.

Since stepping into the role of Director of Photography, he has contributed his expertise to a wide range of productions, including feature films, commercials, music videos and documentaries. His work spans both Swedish and international projects, bringing a versatile and informed perspective to every set.

Awards and Nominations

His dedication and hard work on feature films such as Easy Money and Zozo earned him both the prestigious Swedish Guldbagge Award and the Eastman Kodak Award for Best Cinematography.
Additionally, his work on Swoon garnered a nomination for Best Cinematography at the Guldbagge Awards. He has also been recognized for his commercial work, with nominations for Best Cinematography at The ROY Awards for ComHem - Astronaut and Synsam - Astigmatics.
